Consumer Notices
Resources for Consumers who Receive a Letter LexisNexis mails letters via U.S. Postal Service first-class mail to individuals whose information may have been accessed in an unauthorized manner.
If you receive a letter from LexisNexis, this message is for you.
LexisNexis is working with Equifax, one of the three major credit reporting companies, that offers a range of credit management and identity protection services, to help recipients of the letter to monitor their credit reports for one year at no cost.
Equifax will help you protect your identity and your credit information through these steps:
- Place a Fraud Alert on your credit report. This statement alerts creditors of the possibility of fraudulent activity within your credit report and requests that they contact you prior to establishing any accounts in your name. Once the fraud alert has been placed with Equifax, a notification will be sent to the other two credit reporting companies, Experian and TransUnion.
- Enroll in Equifax Credit Watch and obtain your 3-in-1 Credit Report. These Equifax offerings will provide you with an "early warning system" to key changes to your Equifax credit file and will help you understand the content of your credit file at the three credit reporting agencies. You will also receive a 3-in-1 Credit Report to help you understand your credit history based on reports from all three Credit Reporting companies.
